Types of Paper & Their Uses

It’s a common adage that for every job, you’d require a different set of tools. This applies just as well to paper uses as it does to other hands-on jobs. While some papers may be good when printing out photos, some might be better for craft use.

Here at Mankey Monkey, we’ve collated some of the more popular types of paper and their various uses. If you need something more than plain white card, check out our list below:

Brown Kraft Paper

Our brown natural Kraft card and paper comes in many different sizes, weights, and thicknesses. Grab enough of them together, and you have yourself a rustic way of wrapping gifts that don’t rely on cliché patterns and designs.

More than that, though, the classic Brown Kraft paper is incredibly versatile for art projects due to its relatively neutral colour yet hand-crafted aesthetic.

A3 and A4 Colored Papers

The classic A3 and A4 coloured papers are typical in most craft studios and art spaces. Its use is only really limited by the imagination of the user, where a stack of multicoloured papers can be used for an exciting new art project or even just a new way to be able to send greeting cards to loved ones.

Often you may see a limited range of colours present in office spaces, where certain colour-coded papers can be used to distinguish some files from another.

Gloss and Silk Paper

Gloss and silk paper are a standard in many photoshops and studios. Known for their clear sheen, gloss and silk papers are popular materials for people who regularly need to print on smooth surfaces to get the best image possible.

Expect to need gloss and silk paper when printing out highly visual designs or even regular office documents that require more clarity. Most gloss and silk papers work perfectly with various printers, from laser to digital, though some may not work with inkjet printers.

Recycled Paper

Mankey Monkey also supplies a suite of recycled papers in different sizes and varieties for those environmentally conscious. These are great inexpensive paper varieties that are best for companies and individuals who expect to use a great deal of paper but dispose of them immediately. This can be useful for regular memos, handouts, and more without sacrificing print quality and stability.

Plantable Papers and Cards

If the recycled paper isn’t enough for you as an environmentally conscious user, you might opt for plantable papers and cards. One of Mankey Monkey’s more unique paper types, the plantable paper and cards, have wildflower and grass seeds that help create beautiful growth when appropriately planted in a pot. Use this for items that you want to print out and give the disposed of papers to the gardener in your life.
